Bert Muller Holland: a historic and innovative player in professional kitchens
Founded in 1898 in Amsterdam by Bert Muller, Bert Muller Holland quickly established itself as a benchmark in the professional kitchen and hospitality sector.
Originally specialising in tableware and coffee machines, the company has become a key player in the hospitality and commercial kitchen market thanks to its expertise and ability to meet the needs of professionals.
Over the decades, Bert Muller Holland has undergone several stages of growth and transformation. In the 1980s, the company was transferred to Hoofddorp and taken over by the De Zeeuw family, before being integrated into Gastronoom, a subsidiary of the SHV/Makro group. Gastronoom then split Bert Muller's activities into two distinct sectors: commercial kitchen technology and the supply of products for the hospitality industry.
Towards the end of the 20th century, Gastronoom was acquired by Ahold, making Bert Muller Holland a subsidiary of Deli-XL. However, as the project and technical services activities did not fit with Deli-XL's objectives, they were separated and sold, allowing Bert Muller to regain its strategic and family independence.
An independent family business focused on quality and innovation
Today, Bert Muller Holland is an independent family business that emphasises quality, reliability and outstanding customer service. Digitalisation plays a central role in its strategy, offering its customers:
- A wide range of competitively priced products
- Efficient customer support,
- And customised solutions tailored to the needs of every professional kitchen.
The company stands out for its proactive approach, transparency and honesty: Bert Muller does not hesitate to say "no" when a solution does not meet expectations, prioritising long-lasting, trusting relationships with its customers. Innovation and adaptation to market developments are at the heart of his vision, ensuring the sustainability and resilience of his customers in the face of an uncertain environment.
International development and technical expertise in Belgium
With a view to international growth, Bert Muller Holland acquired the technical department of Sodexo Belgium's professional kitchens in 2021.
This acquisition has strengthened its presence in the field of preventive and corrective maintenance, as well as in the installation of catering equipment in companies and institutions, both public and private.
With more than 30 specialised technicians covering areas such as refrigeration systems, refrigerated display cases, refrigerators, ice machines, cooking units, dishwashers, coffee machines, organic waste management or simply professional kitchen accessories (blenders, fly killers, mixer beaters, bain-maries, etc.), Bert Muller Belgium now offers the most comprehensive after-sales service in Belgium for professional kitchens, covering all brands.
This expertise enables it to guarantee its customers continuity of service, reliability and responsiveness, even on the most complex installations.
Continued growth and ambitions in the Netherlands
Continuing its expansion in the Netherlands, Bert Muller Holland made a strategic acquisition in 2025 (Hobeka), consolidating its position as a supplier of equipment and solutions for professional kitchens.
This acquisition marks a major turning point, making Bert Muller a key player in the sector, capable of offering comprehensive technical and functional solutions tailored to the needs of large kitchens and institutions.
Today, the Bert Muller Group combines more than a century of experience, cutting-edge technical expertise and a vision focused on innovation to become a trusted partner for catering and hospitality professionals in both the Netherlands and Belgium.
